Ok, so installed it by overwriting the contents of the Phoenix OS folder as described in an earlier post, this worked properly and saved changes. However, I cannot update the SuperSU binary and it does not think it's rooted at all. I was able to sign into my google account successfully to start with and had no issues updating google play services and getting into the Play Store. Any thoughts on the root situation?

Are you sure you updated SuperSU from the Play Store BEFORE you tried running it? You will probably need to start from scratch now that you have this problem.
Hi Tec,
I'm using your file and all works fine... root is OK, the Play Services are OK, the Play Store is OK and also the Super SU works good... BUT the system don't save the settings. For example I can set "System Administrator" for an application and it works, but after the restart I have to set it ON again.

I'd think that you might find that you have the same problem, as all I have done is taken that ISO and added the Google Apps and the ROOT to it. I've just tried adding an app as a "Device Administrator" and rebooting on an old install and on a fresh install. In both cases, it worked absolutely fine. Maybe a problem with your "Data" folder/image.
Howdy.
I have been pulling my hair out with this. I installed the standard 2.0.3 into a 64b Virtualbox VM with the virtual disk formatted as Ext4. It works flawlessly. However, I can't get this version to work properly. It appears to install just fine, but upon first run, I get a stream of errors, all relating to various google apps and/or services failing. I have the same problem in both versions (with and without SU). Sometimes I can click fast enough and get through the setup wizard, but most times I can't complete that. After that - when rebooting - I get to the Phoenix logo and it hangs. If I format the virtual disk as Fat32 or NTFS, it works, but I'm limited to a 4K image for the disk - not the actual size I allotted in VirtualBox. In this case, the OS will reboot normally. Just for my own sanity, I compared the official ISO with both of yours, and the only differences I can find are the GApps and SU, which is what I expected. In Genymotion, I have an Android 64b image ... but I had to use the 32b GApps ... the 64b version failed miserably. Can you shed some lite on this? Am I out of luck? Is it difficult to produce an ISO that has SU and the 32b GApps?

The only real difference is that I use a real partition not VM image. I found that if I let the Phoenix OS installer format the partition that I was installing to, that this error would happen for me. The way that works for me is to format the partition with GParted before installing Phoenix OS and when the installer asked if I wanted to format the partition, I selected 'No'. I do this as standard now and have not seen the error since. It's not difficult to produce your own modded ISO. Just google 'RMXtools'.
Hey Tec, thanks for the response!
I knew about GParted, but never even considered using it. HA I'll also look into RMXTools ... I'm not familiar with it, so it'll be a new adventure for me ... something new to play with. LOL Thanks again for the pointers! Just as a followup ... GParted did the trick -- 2.0.3 w/GApps/SU works well in Virtualbox. Now I'm off to explore RMXTools to see what kind of new trouble I can scare up <G>

Any way to install this so it doesn't mess with the existing partition tables/windows bootloader, but instead adds a boot option to the windows bootloader?

You can install the official EXE version from windows (which will just put Phoenix OS in a folder on the drive of your choice) and the replace the system.sfs or system.img (depending which you get) with the system.sfs from my ISO. I think doing it this way, will give you the desired results. |
